Easy guide to picking the right moisturizer

Skin care aisles are jam-packed with so many options, it makes it tricky to figure out which facial moisturizer is right for you. Here are a few pointers to steer you in the right direction!

A moisturizer for every skin type!

It’s no secret that for a moisturizer to work well, it must be adapted to your skin type. Not sure what yours is? Ask one of our dermo-cosmetic consultants for help! She can analyze your skin with a special instrument made specifically for this purpose.

Skin Type Skin Care Goal Type of Moisturizer
Normal Maintain skin's natural moisture Lightweight moisturizers that leave skin supple and comfortable
Dry and sensitive Moisturize, ease itching and tightness Richer creams with soothing active ingredients to lock moisture into the skin
Combination to oily Regulate moisture levels An oil-free gel or lotion to control oil and shine, without clogging pores

Remember that using a cream not suited to your skin type can lead to acne, redness and irritation.

Adapting your routine is the key!

One you’ve established your skin type, you know exactly which kind of moisturizer you need. Then it’s simply a question of adapting it to the season and to your age!

During winter, cold temperatures and indoor heating tend to dry out skin. That’s why you should choose a slightly richer moisturizer. Your best bet during the summer is something more lightweight.

To fight skin aging, starting in your 20s, use products formulated to both hydrate skin and prevent the appearance of your first lines and wrinkles. As time passes, be sure to select moisturizers with even more specific anti-aging properties.

Moisturizing from the inside out!

Skin is composed of 70 percent water, which is why you need to hydrate it from the inside too! That means drinking plenty of water and cutting back on caffeinated beverages (coffee, tea, soft drinks) because of their diuretic effect.
