From plant origin, olive oil is extracted from the fruit of the olive tree, usually found by the Mediterranean sea.
Olive oil, while having hydrating properties, contains antioxidant molecules (polyphenols, hydroxytyrosol) that helps the skin defend itself against the environment, by neutralizing free radicals caused by pollution and UV rays1. Some components of olive oil could have anti-fungal2 and anti-bacterial properties3. Vichy Lipidiose 1, La Roche-Posay Ceralip Lip care, La Roche-Posay Lipikar Surgras.
