The secret is out: gorgeous nails are in! Wear them short, long, square or even stiletto. Choose a glitter or glossy finish. At Uniprix, you’ll find a full lineup of nail art products for creating designs to your heart’s content.
In this video, we’ll be showing you how to apply artificial nails. Here are the Nail Creation products you’ll need:
- A cuticle pusher or an electric nail pen
- A nail buffer
- Three types of nail files
- Brush-on resin
- Nail tips in the style of your choice
- A nail tip slicer
- Clear or pink powder
- A nail brush
- Brush-on glue
- Spray activator
- Crystal base
- Crystal finish
- Cuticle oil
- Acetone
- Start by pushing back your cuticles with the nail pen and prepping your nails by polishing the surface with the nail buffer. File them to the desired length with the black emery board.
- Then, remove any dust with the nail brush.
- Choose the size of your nail tip based on the width of each nail.
- Apply a coat of brush-on resin to the tip of the nail, carefully apply the tip and hold for 20 seconds. Trim it with the nail tip slicer.
- Using the gold emery board, file each side of the nail tip until it matches the shape of your natural nail. Then, file it down to the length and shape you want and remove excess dust with the brush.
- Continue by applying a coat of brush-on resin to the whole surface of the nail. Start at the centre with a slight movement toward the cuticle, followed by an upward movement right up to the tip of the nail. Make sure you do not apply too much near the cuticles.
- Sprinkle with the powder and remove any excess with the nail brush.
- Apply a coat of brush-on glue to the surface of the nail, followed by a 2nd coat of brush-on resin and then spray with the activator.
- Use the buffer to smooth the surface of the nail and the zebra banana nail file to trim down the contour of your cuticle.
- Once again, remove any excess dust with the nail brush.
- Run the nail pen along the contour of your nail to smooth it out.
- You’re now ready for the finishing coats. This is where you can also add your special nail art designs. Once you have done so, apply the crystal base, followed by a first coat of crystal finish, one finger at a time. It’s extremely important to wipe off your brush on a paper towel before dipping it again in the bottle of crystal finish to avoid contamination. Follow with a second coat of finish.
- End by applying cuticle oil.
- Once you have completed the first hand, start the process on the other hand.
If you want to remove your artificial nails, make sure you only use acetone.
You’ll have gorgeous nails for at least 3 weeks. So go ahead and go bold, right down to your fingertips!
Feeling beautiful: that’s good for you too!

Cuticle Pusher or Electric Nail Pen
For professional results, use the cuticle pusher or electric nail pen to push back the cuticles before applying artificial nails.

Nail Buffer
A nail buffer is used to polish all types of nails.

3 Types of Nail Files
- Black emery board: Designed to file natural nails to the desired length.
- Gold emery board: A fine-grit emery board used to file artificial nail tips.
- Zebra banana nail file: A file for acrylic used to shape artificial nails.

Brush-on Resin
Resin enhances the strength and thickness of nails. It is applied with a brush after the glue, before the powder, and is cured using an activator. Brush-on resin is also used to glue nail tips. It should not be used to strengthen natural nails without first applying powder.

Nail Tips
With artificial resin nails, the tip is contoured to fit the shape of the natural nail. Once dry, it is shaped for thickness, length, etc. So go ahead and play with colours and styles to your heart’s content and the trends of the moment!

Nail Tip Slicer
An essential tool to cut nail tips neatly, without breaking them. A slicer should always be used to obtain a clean cut and professional results.

Clear or Pink Powder
Powder makes nails more resistant and less prone to breakage. It is especially important to apply it to the nail tip and it can also be used on the natural nail. Available in clear to apply on a naturally pink nail.

Nail Brush
An accessory to remove excess powder from the nail surface.

Brush-on Glue
This glue is brushed on after the powder to make the latter transparent. It has a liquid texture that helps minimize the look of flaws.

Spray Activator
Spray activator is used for the curing and proper hardening of resin. The product comes in a convenient spray.

Crystal Base
It serves as an activator. It must be used in conjunction with the crystal finish to harden it and ensure its even application. The base is applied before the finish and after buffing nails, for maximum shine.

Crystal Finish
The crystal finish is a top coat meant to be applied over the crystal base in two separate coats. Wipe the brush clean after an application and before dipping it in the bottle again to prevent the thickening of the product. The crystal finish leaves nails ultra glossy.

Cuticle Oil
It nourishes cuticles and grooves and keeps them supple.

Acetone
Acetone is used to remove polish from acrylic nails. It is a must for the gentle, easy and fast removal of artificial nails.
