Get moving this winter!
To celebrate this month’s Olympic Games, here is a pop quiz on exercise. Wintertime is the perfect time to participate in many different activities! Don’t miss out!
If you walk to stay in shape, you need to take 100 steps/minute for your activity to be considered exercise?
TRUE. Walking is indeed considered a good moderate intensity exercise as long as it is done at a pace of 100 steps/minute for 30 minutes.
Perspiration is a good indicator of the intensity of effort.
FALSE. The level of perspiration varies from one person to the next and so is not a valid indicator of effort. Your breathing is a better measure. You must be slightly out of breath, but still able to speak in slightly broken sentences.
After 15 days of physical inactivity, your body begins to lose its fitness level.
TRUE. The benefits of exercise cannot be stored. To stay in shape, you must therefore be active regularly (30 minutes/5 times a week).
