Winter skin protection is for kids, too!

During winter, the cold, wind and low humidity can sometimes leave skin feeling dry, itchy and chafed. The sun can also wreak havoc on our epidermis if we don’t take appropriate precautionary measures. To prevent dry skin and sunburns, protecting your skin is a must...and that goes for children, as well!

Moisturizers, not just for adults!

To prevent dryness, avoid giving children hot baths. The excessive heat can strip their skin of essential oils. For an overall soothing effect, just add a few drops of oil in the bathwater. It is also a good idea to apply moisturizer to their entire body, after their bath. In addition, if the air inside your home is too dry, consider installing a humidifier to maintain a suitable level of humidity.

When your children play outside, apply a protective cream on their face. Their delicate skin really needs it.

Sunscreen is a must!

The sun shines all year long, so it goes without saying that, regardless of the season, we need to protect skin from its harmful ultraviolet rays. Remember that children’s skin is three times thinner than that of adults, making it more vulnerable to the sun’s detrimental effects. If your children are out on the slopes or just enjoying the fresh winter air, it’s important that they use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15, as well as lip balm formulated with sunscreen.
