Concealer: A key asset in your beauty kit!

Concealer is an important tool in a woman’s beauty arsenal, since it can mask dark under-eye circles, add touches of light to sculpt the face and even hide pimples, spots and redness, all in the twinkling of an eye.

Worst concealer faux-pas

Concealer is a convenient product, as long as you avoid:
  • layering it on too thickly – this creates a wrinkled or “crocodile-skin” effect;
  • selecting a shade that is too light – you’ll need to add extra foundation to hide the error. The final look will be an unattractive mask-like finish;
  • choosing a shade that is too dark – this only accentuates wrinkles.

The best way to apply concealer is to gently dab it on with the tip of your finger. Never rub. The end result will be more natural. The goal is to have it fully blended with your foundation.

Expert tip
If your concealer is too thick, just add a drop of serum or moisturizer. This will make it easier to apply.

Are there any concealers with sunscreen?
They are not readily available on the market right now.  Your best bet is to apply a bit of sunscreen (or moisturizer with an SPF) under your concealer. If you plan on spending several hours under the sun – at the beach for example – take a break from concealer, foundation and other similar products in order to let your skin breathe (obviously you will need sunscreen to protect it from UV rays). 
 

New generation concealers

Cosmetic companies have recently introduced new ultra-performance concealers that perfectly fuse with any complexion, regardless of skin tone. Among them, you will find tinted concealers such as:
  • orange to hide turquoise under-eye circles
  • yellow to mask bluish under-eye circles
  • yellow/green to camouflage reddish or purplish under-eye circles

There are also new “pencil-brush” concealers designed to hide imperfections. With their high concentration of pigments, they magically make unsightly under-eye circles disappear and illuminate the eyes in a flash. The results are always natural, always impeccable!
