Fresh and colourful!
Fall is fresh, colourful, bright and energizing. Inspired by the season, fashion gurus are offering up natural complexions, rosy cheeks and multicoloured nails. Here are the 2011 fall trends, part 1.
Fall is a many-splendoured thing
Complexion
Fall complexions are fresh and luminous. (Even the T-zone can shine a little: that says it all!). As for cheeks, they should have a rosy glow, like the one you get from walking outside on a cool autumn day. This means sayings “adios” to the heavy foundations and powders that hide freckles and beauty marks.
What you’ll need:
- Translucent foundation or tinted moisturizer (be sure to choose the shade closest to your natural colouring);
- Light-reflecting primer;
- Concealer (always useful to hide unsightly blemishes, redness and dark circles);
- Blush in a deep pink or pearly peach (opt for a cream product: it blends well and creates a healthy glow).
What you’ll shelve:
- Foundations in a matte, powdery finish.
Lips
Red will be on everyone’s lips this fall. Embrace the style of the season by selecting a matte or velvety lipstick to be applied on fully exfoliated and well hydrated lips. (A quick hint: this season, lip lines are sharp and precise). Of course, the more reserved among us can always apply their lip colour with fingertips, for a divine, tattoo-like effect, or opt for the super discreet nude pout.
What you’ll need:
- An opaque lipstick in a bold red (cherry, Bordeaux, fuchsia, orange);
- Matching lip liner;
- Beige, peach or light pink matte lipstick.
What you’ll shelve:
- Lip gloss.
Nails
Nail polish is the new must-have accessory! In fact, it has now become a staple. This year, we play around with textures and finishes. Colour in all of its forms – light or dark – has also made the honour roll.
What you’ll need:
- Nail polish in a matte, pearly, iridescent or shattered finish;
- Electrifying shades (blue jeans, orange, evergreen…);
- Bold (ebony, graphite, Bordeaux…) and natural (beige, light pink, peach…);
- Nail art stickers.
What you’ll shelve:
- Nothing! Keep everything and have fun!
