Makeup in a flash: Getting it right!

Makeup in a flash: Getting it right!

When you’re pressed for time, you probably wonder if there’s a way to get great looking makeup in under 3 minutes. Well, there is! The art of “makeup in a flash” does exist and, as you’ll discover, it’s more than just a question of cutting back on certain steps. Multipurpose products and those specially designed for express application are sure to be a big help!

It all starts with great skin

You’ve heard it before: the secret to a gorgeous complexion is proper skin care every day. That means cleansing and moisturizing morning and night with products suited to your age and skin type. You’ll also want to add weekly exfoliation to your to-do list!

Minute 1: Even out your skin tone

Concealer: it’s THE complexion-improving product many professional makeup artists swear by. At times, it may even be all you need. It can hide everything from dark circles under your eyes to redness and other flaws elsewhere on your face. (Complexion correctors can also be used for the entire face, including under-eye circles).

If you have an extra 30 seconds and want to polish your complexion a bit more, apply a sheer, lightweight powder (e.g. a mineral powder with a large brush, focusing on your forehead, nose and chin. A hint of well-blended cream blush over your cheekbones will also do wonders for you when you’re looking a tad pale.

Minute 2: Highlight your eyes

  • Apply mascara to your top lashes (extra-black or lengthening – it’s a great way to make eyes look wider!).
  • You can also add a translucent, natural eye shadow in a pearly or shimmery finish (pink or champagne) to the inner corner of your eye or on your eyelids.

Minute 3: Sweeten your lips

  • Apply your lip gloss or long-wearing lipstick. Start at the centre of the lips, working your way outward (preferably with a lip brush, which truly gives the best results).

“Lip stains” also work wonders. They evenly tint the entire surface of your lips (the contour and flesh of the lips).

  • To end on a note of elegance – if you have another 15 seconds to spare! – add lip gloss. Focus on the fleshy part of your lips.
