Trends in Hair for 2011: Styles with personality!
In 2011, trends in hair take a walk on the wilder, more outrageous side, but don’t count out that thick, natural look either. Full length, retro-inspired with very few layers and just a bit of tapering: that’s the best way to describe what the latest hairstyles of every length have in common.
Long and very long
- No bangs
- Long and blunt (not too thinned out, no tapering, just a bit of layering)
- Dead straight or naturally wavy
- A clean, crisp middle part
- or a side part with a wide strand of hair swept over the forehead
- Teased with volume on top, retro style (think 1960s and Brigitte Bardot)
- Ponytails (high, low, ear height, the choice is yours!)
- Chignons of all types adorned with accessories, such as metal combs
Mid length
- Shorter than in previous seasons (i.e. nape is exposed)
- No bangs, large strand of hair draping the forehead
- or thick, short bangs below the eyebrows to frame the eyes
- Pixie cuts and blunt bobs are back!
Ultra short
- Mischievous “garçonne” cuts
- Tousled as in the rock-and-roll 50s era
- or slicked back, in a nod to the Roaring Twenties
The key word is definitely “bold,” with “shine” thrown in for good measure! For example, bring on the blonde magic, so blonde, in fact, it’s nearly white, because platinum is back in a big way.
Products
For styles that are high in volume, structure or, at times, sleekness, pomades, gels and hairspray are an absolute must.
