Trends in hairstyles for spring-summer 2010 : Slightly naughty is the new nice!
Sparks will fly on the hairstyle front this spring-summer 2010 ! Colours are bold and brash, as textures of all kinds come together. Asymmetrical haircuts are back in a big way, as is volume – not overdone, but not too shy either! Women looking to get their groove on as summer winds up will want to step out of their comfort zone and steer clear of anything meek, traditional and sober!
Length
As usual, there’s something for every style and every hair length this year, but what’s most striking is surely the broad range of options featuring polar opposites: from the ultra-short boy cuts –shaggy, messy or concave (as in inverted bob) – to the ultra long, for the woman who is free like the wind...and uses it as her stylist! If tied back it must be, long tresses should be loosely finger-tousled with a bit of volume or worn up as a double or even a triple ponytail.
Colour trends
Out with the plain, in with the fab! The era of caramel and tone-on-tone highlights is over, to be replace with the age of the ombré look! Say what? With ombré highlights, large chunks of are dyed in a contrasting lighter or darker shade (on the lower half of long hair, for example), reminiscent of tie-died clothes. As for the season’s colours, funky hues like mauve, pink, turquoise and even silver grey (yes, grey can make you look younger!) are cropping up on locks everywhere. Wear them as a natural balayage or, of course, with ombré highlights.
Bangs, parts and all that jazz!
If you thought thick, straight bangs were a thing of the past, think again! To many women’s delight, they’re back with a vengeance! Remember that the closer a dark, straight bang sits to the eyebrows, the more it will make your eyes “pop.”
The new “it” part is without a doubt the side-swept look, which covers the forehead and or veil one eye, creating an aura of mystery!
Textures mingle gaily this season: smoothed back, teased, crimped, slicked, curled, braided, polished, etc. Have fun mixing and matching them!
