Extend your tan, keep summer alive!
Summer is drawing to an end and you’d like to maintain your vacation glow and beautiful summer hue? The sunny season will be back again next year, but until then you can extend your tanned complexion another few weeks, maybe even a few months! Here’s how.
The basics of a lasting tan
The first step to a long-lasting tan is gradual and moderate sun exposure. Applying a sunscreen is obviously a must, as is the use of a moisturizer to soothe skin after your time in the sun.
You’ll also want to be sure to keep up your beauty regimen (exfoliation-hydration) throughout the summer – even during heat waves and camping trips – to boost your odds of prolonging your tan well into fall.
Gentle exfoliation
Exfoliation eliminates dead cells from the surface of the epidermis. Choose a gentle product to avoid irritating your skin.
Hydration
An after-sun moisturizing lotion is the perfect pick to maintain your sun-kissed glow. After sunbathing, apply a generous quantity of moisturizer to your body. This will smooth and soften the epidermis, while repairing any damage caused by the sun’s rays and by any loss of fluid.
Discover the various lines of sun products. Many of them feature after-sun care treatments, which are great allies in helping protect your tan. The major dermo-cosmetic brands also offer products specific to every skin type. Apply them daily, preferably after showering.
To keep your face looking fresh and healthy, use a serum before your evening moisturizer. Ask your beauty consultant which products will best suit your particular skin type: dry, combination, oily, mature, etc.
A touch of makeup
Use a hint of powdered foundation to even out your complexion. Choose a foundation that is slightly lighter than your skin tone and sweep it over your nose, cheekbones, the top of your forehead and chin.
Try a self-tanner

Nutrition and your tan
Why not try extending your glow from the inside out? If you want your tan to outlast summer, try eating foods rich in vitamin C, such as strawberries, peppers, watercress and tomatoes. Beta-carotene-rich foods are also useful. These include mangos, apricots, melons, carrots, peaches and spinach.
